EDUCATION
Mr. Alofs is a graduate of Elmira College in Elmira, New York (B.S., 1984). While there, Mr. Alofs received the Varsity Soccer Team’s Most Valuable Player Award as well as being the recipient of Elmira College’s Four-Year Letterman Award for Varsity Soccer and Four-Year Student Athlete Academic Award. (Maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA while also Lettering in a Varsity Sport) Mr. Alofs is also a graduate of Whittier College School of Law in Los Angeles, California, (J.D., 1987), which is now located in Costa Mesa, California.
LEGAL CAREER
Mr. Alofs began his legal career by accepting a Judicial Clerkship position with The Honorable Thomas W. O’Toole, Maricopa County Presiding Superior Court Judge, in Phoenix, Arizona. After a one year clerkship and relocating to South Florida, Mr. Alofs accepted a trial lawyer position with Adams, Coogler, Watson & Merkel, P.A. in West Palm Beach. Adams, Coogler, et.al. was and is a very large and exclusive civil trial practice specializing in the defense of insurance companies and their insured for claims involving personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, medical malpractice, and insurance coverage litigation. This is where Mr. Alofs obtained much of his working knowledge of how insurance companies and their defense attorneys operate. After obtaining invaluable trial experience as an insurance defense trial attorney, Mr. Alofs was approached with a job offer by attorney, Robert Morel Montgomery, now deceased, who had been following his career. Mr. Montgomery was one of the premiere Plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death trial attorneys in the country, for whom Mr. Alofs had previously worked as a law clerk while studying for the Florida Bar exam. Mr. Alofs had the privilege of trying dozens of jury trials while working with Mr. Montgomery, and after six years, left to open his own law firm.

CERTIFICATIONS
Mr. Alofs is Board Certified and has been Re-Certified every 5 years since he was originally Certified in the 1990s as a Specialist in Civil Trial Law, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death and Products Liability by the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Additionally, the nation’s oldest independent lawyer rating publication, Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, since 1996 has awarded Mr. Alofs, every year, an “AV” rating, which is the highest accolade attainable in the categories of Legal Ability and Ethical Standards. Mr. Alofs is admitted to practice law in the United States Federal Court for the Southern and Middle Districts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, as well as the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and the National Board of Trial Advocacy Board of Examiners.
PERSONAL INFO
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Alofs is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt training out of “The Armory” in Jupiter, Florida. Mr. Alofs also holds a Fourth Degree Black Belt under the Dillman Karate System in Ryu-Kyu Kempo Karate, a First-Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a Black Belt in the Filipino Martial Arts of Kali, Arnis and Eskrima under the Sayok Fighting Systems. He is also Certified as a Personal Defense Readiness Instructor in the Blauer Tactical Confrontation Management System, which is used to train defensive combat tactics to law enforcement agencies and military personnel throughout the world. Mr. Alofs makes his home in Jupiter with his wife Paola, and three children Cash, Halle and Alexandra.
